What should I do now that COVID has thrown a wrench in my plans

In the last two weeks, I’ve had the same conversation with my coaching clients, who all ask: “What should I do now?”

Due to #COVID19, deal activity has slowed, and may dwindle before coming screaming back 6-9 months from now.

This has left many discouraged and frustrated, grieving the loss of the goals they aspired to pre-COVID. EBITDAC doesn’t cut it when it comes to your ambitions.

You have two choices:

Adopt a ‘been there, done that’ attitude, and decide that nothing is gonna happen in a recession, so why bother. Go ‘pencils down,’ disappear from the scene for now and reemerge after the crisis subsides.

Or

Think creatively on how you can help your clients. Network like crazy - this is the quiet moment to map out your sector, and start conversations you’ve been meaning to have for years. Ask yourself what you can do today to lay the foundation for success in the coming years. Now is the time to take share and build relationships in lieu of transactions.

Take this opportunity to “re-underwrite” your focus by acknowledging that the game has changed. A year from now, when there are deals to be had, those who retreated will be swept aside in favor of those who elected to engage and serve.
