How does your investment philosophy drive your success at work or hinder it?

Is there a delta between how you see it, and how your IC sees it?

What if I told you it's not about what the chef wants to serve, it's about what the client wants to eat!

I often see PE/HF professionals struggle to get deals through committee because of their embedded ways of doing things, or ego-driven insistence on sticking to what They think makes sense.

As an employee at a firm (don't let the Partner title fool you: you are still an employee), you job is to find deals that the IC likes... if they want peanut butter, marshmallow fluff and mustard sandwiches, you job is to go out and find deals which look like that. Don't let your "intellectual honesty" get in the way.

You've spent years developing judgment around deals and doing it the right way. Whatever you get close on AND will pass IC is as good as it gets -- there is no perfect

If your not putting points on the board, you don't exist. How are you using your seat at the table? Are you taking shots on goal?
