It feels like December 2008 right now

…the market was racing towards zero, the mood somber, and restaurants empty I remember in February 2009 sitting in Sparks Steakhouse with my buddy Patrick. We were 1 of 2 tables in a normally bustling 200 person steakhouse on at 8pm on a Thursday. For months after Lehman BK’d, no one was going out or spending money as the S&P approached 700 We sat there both looking at each other like “ok, so either the world is gonna end, or something else will happen” — it was hard though to see anything but continued downward spiral.

Even though we are early in the quarantine and business shut down, this feels eerily similar to the depth of the financial crisis — vacant cities and everyone hunkering down.

Assuming we come out of this, how do you want to spend your energy?

You can step back and prepare for when the sun is shining again, or you could also stare at the tape — watching tick by tick, and feeling incredible anxiety about what’s next.
