Managing your juniors is all about your own energy and approach

-> Instead of asking your junior staff "why hasn't [X] been done" (which polarizes you and them)
--> STAY ON THEIR TEAM!

Say "You said X would be done by Y.
I noticed it's not done.
What happened?"

While it's temping to snarl "why isn't it done" when you're frustrated in the moment,
Get curious, stay on their side, and allow them to propose a path forward. Instead of shaming them and risk them "shutting down" or going into "defend mode," you can help move it along and get what you want, all while preserving the relationship.
