If you tell me your calendar is packed, I'll tell you that you have a problem with boundaries

If you tell me your calendar is packed,
I'll tell you that you have a problem with boundaries or business selection.

My most successful clients are not "busy"
1. They identify 30 quality hours per week for work
2. Distill their three key strategic priorities
3. Devote 10-15 to these strategic priorities, and leave the balance of the 30 hours open for colleagues to schedule meetings with them.

If they are hard to get ahold of, good! It forces them to delegate to their juniors (and gives those people a sense of ownership).

Micromanagers are busy. Scattered people are busy. Those with no boundaries who are always available and can't say No are busy.

The most successful people work 30 focused hours a week. As banking analysts, we were trained / gaslighted / tortured to believe we had no say. As 40-50 year old partners, CEOs, business unit heads, we do have a say!

In fact, Managers who still think like banking analysts 1. get inconsistent outcomes, which generally leads to less pay, 2. burn out their juniors, 3. lose connection with their families, 4. often have poor health and diet.

With 30 hours of focused and prioritized work, you exist with a sense of "balance" which everyone senses - your peers, clients, family, dogs... life can be easy in this boundaried intentional plan.

Are you busy? Are you a recovering i-bank analyst?

Take the first step now to identify the 30 weekly working hours available to you.
