I am crushing it beyond imagination

If you told me a year ago that I’d be where I am today, I would have guessed I’d be insanely proud and thrilled today

Yet, I feel pretty down, overwhelmed, and like what I’ve done isn’t enough

I had this conversation with a client (and fellow Princeton grad) this past week. He accomplished everything we set out for him to do last December and more, yet he showed up to our celebratory reunion feeling overwhelmed and anxious

Do you constantly move the goal posts? Each time attaining “your dream,” only to tell yourself that where you are is inadequate, and resolving to double your effort, with the promise to yourself that “I’ll be happy once I get there... no really I swear”

This thinking is symptomatic of the disease of being an achiever. By factoring in how others may perceive our success, nothing is ever enough

Where do you keep moving the goal posts at work and in life?

executive coaching private equity, hedgefunds, investment banking
